Power of HOPE received this wonderful thank you letter from a recipient of our Christmas gifts in December 2013.
Dear Power of HOPE,
What a unexpected surprise for my children and myself to receive pajamas, socks, toothbrush, toothpaste & stuffed toy for the kids and pajamas, socks and scarf for me along with a beautiful towel basket filled with items that I didn’t think of taking with me to the women shelter. The little stuff toy that was added to my basket, I want you to know, I hug this toy every night and count my blessings.
Due to spousal abuse, I finally got the nerve to leave my husband of 6 years, with my daughter who is 4, and my little man of 2. We arrived at the women shelter in late November, not sure my next step would be and worried about Christmas by up rooting the children from their home and the effect that would have on them. My parents are very supportive but they live in Manitoba and the women shelter was the only option for us.
It was a warm feeling to know we had angels looking over us for Christmas, the smiles on my children’s face and the laughter that I hadn’t heard for quite awhile, just made me feel everything is going to work out for us in 2014.
Saying thank you doesn’t seem enough to me, I will hold Power of Hope in my heart for a very long time. Thanks for your generosity and helping my family in our time of need. I also want you to know, when we get settled, I would like to know how I can help Power of Hope to make other ladies feel special during the rough patches of their lives.
More Thank You letters received from agencies in Waterloo Region and Wellington County who received donations of essential items and stuffed toys from Power of HOPE during the 2013 Christmas period.
